Life is not always clear, to be honest...

As a child, we question things, Who, What, When Where Why, and How. The world is so large and there are billions and billions of places to explore, questions to ask. With each new step the fog in front of us, that shields the unknown, gets a little thinner. But as we grow older and experience more that life has to offer, we realize the fog never truly disappears, it simply moves onto another life journey that we have yet to encounter. Thankfully, as Christians beyond that fog in uncharted territory, God is like our light, guiding us through. Once we accept Christ into our hearts, we are meant to be like lighthouses, a vessel of His light that sailors (unsaved travelers of life) can follow. What do the sailors find once they reach the lighthouse? Solid ground and clear skies. But before the sailors can reach that stability, they must first pass through the waves of life, pushing and pulling them back and forth. When they have finally made it through the waves, you will reach rocks. Their sole purpose is to destroy anything that tries to get too close. But if they allow the light to guide them, they will reach solid ground. Life is filled with so many uncertainties, heartaches, and questions. Why do we endure the things we do and how do we bypass them and just stay on land?

The truth is we can't. We must endure the raging ocean to reach the promised land. The beautiful island with a wonderful lighthouse. Why not just stay on the island in the first place? Well, wouldn't that be easy! As we transition from adolescent to adulthood we drift, we explore. We want to feel the sea breeze on our faces, we follow the temptations that the uncharted waters hold. Some of us leave fully prepared to weather the storms that lie ahead. And some of us leave in a canoe instead of a boat. No supplies, and no looking back. We were once those sailors, and often times we still drift. The good news is, the light will always keeps shining. You can always follow it back to solid ground.

Below is a small poem of sorts that I wrote last year. I was not ready to share it until now. I hope it blesses you.

For you are the light, let me be the lighthouse. A beacon to those lost at sea. Let them peer through the fog and darkness to find hope and return to solid ground. The tether the sailors have knotted may not withstand the storm. They may float away and return to the sea, but the lighthouse remains a sturdy plantation. When they are ready, let them see the light, and ignite a fight to return to solid grounds. Icebergs and boulders may block the coursed path but the light remains bright without a flicker. The captain must remain vigilant and may become weary. But the light will guide him back to solid ground. With each captain that docks, the light grows stronger. May the lighthouse guide you back to solid ground.

Pslams 26:12 - Now I stand on solid ground, and I will publicly praise the LORD.
